COLLECTIVE IMPACT INSTITUTE WORKSHOPS
During the Collective Impact Institute (CII) 15-week workshops, participants will be the basics of community organizing, violence prevention, and personal transformation strategies that are culturally based, media and communication tactics, leading community actions, and civic engagement strategies at a local, regional, and State level, and Political Education.
THE VIOLENCE AND PREVENTION, OMEGA WORKSHOP
This workshop focuses on the process of change. It helps participants identify their way of thinking, delete the thinking, and adopt a new way of thinking. A key part of this workshop is identifying and discussing the nine risk factors of incarceration and death.
THE TRAUMA AND HEALING WORKSHOP
This workshop focuses on participants identifying their personal trauma and historical residue. We teach tools that they can use to help them get grounded and heal moving forward.
THE SUBSTANCE AND USE WORKSHOP
In four sessions, participants explored the intersection of substance use and incarceration in their own lives and the larger criminalization context. These sessions were conducted as part of a larger research project on these topics, and the ideas, stories, and dreams for better futures shared in the space were proof of our learning together about these topics.
THE ORGANIZING CHANGE WORKSHOP
This workshop focuses on the basics of grassroots organizing. It allows participants to think outside the box, bring truth to power, build community, and teach tools to drive the work of ending mass incarceration and build their base of power in the community.
THE POLITICAL EDUCATION WORKSHOP
The purpose of this four-week course is to get a better understanding of the US Government, County Government, and City Government structures. This course also covers revolutionary thinking, a way to think outside the box and not settle for the status quo. The goal is to get black people and people of color to be more active in all levels of governance, think about running successful campaigns, and/or holding elected officials accountable.
